Successful Launch of GOES-R!
published: Thursday, December 01, 2016 21:48 UTC

An Atlas V rocket carrying GOES-R, the nation’s next generation geosynchronous weather satellite, successfully blasted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 6:42 pm Eastern time Saturday, 19 November. The new satellite will provide forecasters with better data, allowing for significant forecast improvements from the sun to the sea. Advanced imagery and increased spatial resolution will lead to more accurate watches and warnings, better situational awareness and enhanced space weather forecasting.
