R2 (Moderate) Flare from Region 3089

R2 (Moderate) Flare from Region 3089
published: Tuesday, August 30, 2022 14:16 UTC

Region 3089 produced a long-duration R2 (Moderate) solar flare.  This impacted Earth's ionosphere, the layer in our upper atmosphere that can reflect high frequency radio waves.  Amateur radio operators having on-air conversations (QSOs) would notice immediately as their signals faded on the affected frequencies.  Fortunately, those impacts are typically short lived and the ionosphere recovers.
